- Your Garden Show
YourGardenShow.com (YGS) came to us with a tall order to fill. They wanted backyard gardeners to be able to share photos and videos of their gardens, and also track their gardens progress over time – things like when tomatoes were harvested or carrot seeds that wouldn’t sprout. On top of this, all the bells and whistles of a typical social network had to be included. Friending, status feeds, internal messaging, and so on.
We worked with YGS to take their dream and turn it into a product. We’re keenly aware of the fact that, when we work with startups, we’re building their companies and not just an auxiliary campaign or website. We take that into account with every new feature request and risk that emerges.
The platform was built, from scratch, in Ruby on Rails. It offers real time video transcoding and streaming, numerous rich interfaces, the option for academic institutions to data mine the garden tracking database for research projects, and the end user experience and social network norms that their users expect.

Allvoices.com is a citizen news outlet that came to us looking for assistance in both scaling and stabilizing their current codebase. With tens of thousands of active users, and ~5 million unique visitors a month, we implemented a caching strategy that dramatically cut down response times and increased responsiveness across the board.

We were approached to create a platform that would connect mentors with those seeking one-on-one information. We took this idea and created a social network from scratch that allows for members to both list their services and register to meet with other members.
