Great Little Ideas

One of Monochrome’s longest standing customers Premier Foods asked us to create a web application that would enable their customers to find new and exciting recipes that use Premier Foods’ products. Premier Foods launched a web and television campaign to generate interest and traffic to the web site and for users to upload their recipes and ideas for other visitors to view and use.

Premier Foods had very tight deadlines to ensure that the newly updated web site was ready for their latest round of TV advertising. By using Ruby on Rails we were able to rapidly develop the new web site and deliver it ahead of schedule and on budget whilst still creating an application that far exceeded Premiers stringent requirements on site performance.

Jos Cervical Cancer Trust

Every year in the UK, over 2,800 women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer and nearly 1,000 women will die from the disease. After breast cancer, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women aged 35 and under.

Jo’s Trust look to provide comprehensive, easy to understand information about cervical cancer, cervical abnormalities and their subsequent treatments. In order to achieve this they came to Monochrome and asked us to provide them with a website that could do this. After providing a rock solid Ruby on Rails based content management system, Jo’s Trust have been able to create a great looking and easy to use website, whilst also being able to sit within the tight cost constraints that charities live with.

Charis Grants Web Application

Charis Grants offer comprehensive administrative and management services in the field of charitable and corporate giving. They have a wealth of experience in administering grant award programmes for utility debt, helping customers become financially sustainable

Charis previously were manually processing larger numbers of application forms from customers wishing to apply for grant status. This process was not only time consuming but also required the transfer of all hand written applications into a database. A lot of the forms were being returned incorrectly filled in and not always complete which then meant then working with the customer to support completion.

Monochrome were selected to deliver and maintain this form improving the processing and management on online data entry. With over 12 years experience in web development Monochrome were able to advise on the right technology and user interface design to be as effective as possible. Using Ruby on Rails & AJAX for the development our team were able to develop and deploy a cost effective solution that met the needs of Charis.

The result has improved the way in which customers have been able to enter data whilst reducing the internal management of forms over the manual system.
